Sergio Balbinot , the ' CEO of General , was appointed vice president of the CEA, the European association of companies insurance and reinsurance.
Balbinot will take 'the place of Tommy Persson as chairman of the CEA in June 2011 , with a term of three years.

The economic crisis has triggered a wave of reactions in terms of regulation to which our industry must respond in a comprehensive manner. I look forward to working with Tommy Persson, the Secretariat of the CEA and its members from 33 countries at this crucial time. Together we will work to an appropriate legislative framework to the European insurance industry. "
Sergio Balbinot is, along with Giovanni Perissinotto, CEO of General . He joined the company in 1983, has built his career in various group companies in Italy and abroad. Once back at the headquarters of the Generali in Trieste in 1995, was appointed deputy director general in 1998 and CEO in 2000. Since April 2002 he held the position of managing director with responsibility for the activities of the international insurance group.
